NORTH IBIZA by PILAR GARCIA SOLCHAGA

In 2009 the Argentinian girl moved to New York in search of a short-term experience but ended up staying ten years after becoming Marc Jacob’s muse. The immediate success opened her many doors and since then top model Pilar has travelled all around the world shooting for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, V Magazine, WWD, and The Wall Street Journal to name a few. Pilar is a true Newyorker, hence she knows the importance of escaping the hecticness of the Big Apple every once in a while, in order to reboot, relax, and thereby return with the necessary energy to thrive in the concrete jungle. Her last getaway destination was Ibiza and, lucky us, she is sharing her favorite spots.

“Packing light is possible, just throw a few summer dresses, your favorite bikini, flat sandals to wear day and night and hats, many hats.

I always recommend staying in Villas, in order to experience the island like a local: chatting with friends by the swimming pool until late afternoons while enjoying a glass of Spanish wine, and waking up in the morning for a jog around the wildness of the island. For those who prefer hotels, Los Enamorados is the perfect one! It’s one of my favorite places. The best summer shopping is there, beautiful sunsets, and also tasty dinners. I truly love that surreal spot and could go back every year. Mondays are the special day, because it’s always drum night, and the energy of the people dancing is contagious and unforgettable.

My perfect day starts in Santa Gertrudis with a delicious healthy breakfast at Wild Beets and some silk shopping around the block at The Rose. Then I’m ready to go for a swim. Where? I prefer quiet calas and beaches that are not very crowded. Raco de Sa Talaia, Aguas Blancas and Benirras are ideal for me.

Having lunch at the Chiringuito Cala Xuclar is a must. Every morning they buy the freshest fish from the local fisherman. It's very small so it’s important not to show up without a reservation.

That rule applies pretty much everywhere in the island. I suggest to plan beforehand in order to eat well.

After a few sunset Aperol Spritz … it's dinner time! (dinner is always late)

La Paloma in San Lorenzo or The Giri Cafe in San Juan are super charming and delicious. You'll find locally sourced food and fresh vegetables that are grown just steps away from these restaurants’ tables.”

Pilar is now renewed and ready to be back in the game. With New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020 coming up in a few weeks, she knows that it will be a busy month. Expect to see her at Adeam and Adam Lippes among other shows. Fashion Week is always very busy and full of surprises for Pilar, lookout for that iconic Argentinian face!
